Visingsborg Castle Sweden Wedding

Visingsborg Castle Sweden Wedding.

Sara and David’s wedding in Sweden centered around the theme of “vintage midsummer.” The day's vision was produced thanks in large part to their historic wedding location and an attention to clean and simple décor. Even with the threat of rain, this beautiful couple still had the wedding of their dreams – and more. Sara and David have been together since they were 16-years old. Once they got engaged, they realized their 10-year anniversary was coming up and there was no better way to honor that than by getting married.

Sara’s bridal look started with white heels and a small floral crown.

Her bouquet was filled with mostly greenery and dainty purple and white flowers.

Her gown fit the theme of the day in idyllic fashion. It was a two-piece creation featuring a lace, three-quarter-length sleeve and a tulle skirt. She looked like a fairytale come to life.

David looked classically handsome in a midnight blue suit and a bow tie. Before the ceremony, Sarah gifted him with a watch to wear on the big day.

The couple chose to have a moment to themselves with a "first look" before the ceremony began. Sarah snuck up behind David and as he turned around, the two engaged in a loving embrace.

With a long veil affixed to her curled locks, Sarah was ready to walk down the aisle.

With his boutonniere perfectly pinned, David was all smiles to say “I do."

The ceremony took place at Visingsborgs Castle, once one of the most impressive 17th century castles in Sweden. Even though only some of the ruins are visible, it’s still an amazing gem of a location.

To mark their ceremony spot, the couple incorporated a flower arch in front of the pews from which guests would sit.

Guests filtered in and began taking their seats. Before long, Sara made her way down the aisle. She joined David under the floral arch and the two exchanged vows.

Sara’s bridesmaid, in a light lavender dress and also wearing a flower crown, sang for the couple and their guests during the ceremony.

Fearful of a downpour, the entire congregation only endured a couple of raindrops through an otherwise rain-free ceremony.

After the ceremony, the couple took photos to remember the wonderful occasion at the castle. Each shot effortlessly highlighted the beauty of the ruins.

They found themselves as close to the water as they could get, admiring the view and enjoying the moment as husband and wife.

They hopped in a car to travel to the reception. Sarah’s window was decorated with “Fru Maars” or “Mrs. Maars.”

For the reception, Sara removed her floral crown and veil and changed into a small tiara. Guests greeted them with cheers and waves as they held hands and joined the celebration.

Inside, guests were greeted with abundant greenery and generous light from an array of windows. They found their seats and everyone enjoyed the romantic ambiance.
