Destination Wedding in Charleston

Destination Wedding in Charleston.

Emma and Blake live in Nebraska so this was a destination wedding in Charleston, South Carolina. They both love trees and the outdoors so the live oaks with drooping Spanish moss was the perfect backdrop for their outdoor ceremony and wedding at Boone Hall Plantation.

Their ceremony took place on the side lawn with the gorgeous oak trees behind them and their reception took place at the Boone Hall Cotton Dock. Emma wanted lots of greenery and a romantic feel that had all the Southern charm of a Charleston plantation wedding.

We captured their portraits in throughout the grounds under oak trees dripping with Spanish moss, in front of the Boone Hall Plantation house and the most beautiful cotton field. Everything from the deep emerald green bridesmaids dresses and colorful florals to the  weather and golden sunset were absolutely perfect for this destination wedding!

From the bride:

1) Tell us about your favorite parts of your wedding day? There were so many beautiful moments, but one of my favorites was walking down the aisle to our violinist playing one of my favorite songs. A very close family friend was our officiant and did an amazing job with our ceremony. With the majority of our guests traveling from 30 degree weather in Nebraska we couldn't help but take in every bit of the sunny and 75 degree weather in Charleston. We were extremely spoiled! Our band was a hit and made for a great dance party which we always love! Overall, we enjoyed seeing it all come together and being to celebrate with our closest friends and family who all traveled so far.

2) Describe your wedding style and the little things you added to make your wedding special unique to you. It's hard to put into words our "wedding style," but I would say simple, but yet elegant. My favorite color is green, so we incorporated a lot of different shades of green with our colors and floral and tried not to take away from Boone Hall's beauty. There were many décor accents of copper throughout our reception and many of the signs were DIY projects I completed over the winter!

3) Any advice to future brides? I would say to try to take in the day as much as you can and enjoy every moment! I know everyone says it goes so fast, but is completely true! We enjoyed having a smaller wedding around 120 guests so we could spend more time with our close friends and family that were there.

4) Anything you would change? Honestly, nothing comes to mind. We truly could not have asked for a more perfect day!
